I am a registered dietitian and nutritionist practicing in the state of North Carolina since 2006. Being a dietitian is my second career. I am former "techie" from San Francisco who learned that I wanted to work with people and not computers . Those who know me well understand that nutrition is not just my job; it's my passion.

I specialize in a variety of health conditions, from diabetes to weight management to GI disorders. I am also a Certified Diabetes Educator and work with Type 1, Type 2 diabetics as well as those with gestational diabetes and pre-diabetes.

I am particularly well versed in helping clients heal from gastrointestinal problems. Whether you are a newly diagnosed celiac or are looking to heal your body from

Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis or bacterial overgrowth, I have a wealth of experience in these areas.

One of the things that differentiates my practice from traditional health care today is the personalized care that I provide. I spend a lot of time listening, reflecting, and ensuring that I am meeting the needs of my client. Visits are never rushed. You are always offered a beverage and a healthy snack as well!

Get to know the dietitian

Do you have any health problems that you have used diet to treat? I have celiac disease and have been living the gluten free lifestyle since 2003. I am also lactose intolerant.

What is your favorite go-to meal that you cook at home? Coconut red curry with vegetables and tofu.

Do you always eat healthy? I don't view foods as "good" or "bad". I would say I am intuitive eater. I listen to my body and give it the foods that I feel nourish it the best at that particular time. I naturally gravitate towards minimally processed fresh foods, but I also don't place any strict restrictions on my intake.

Okay, really, what is your favorite "junk" food? I really like gluten free fig cookies and almost anything chocolate.

What is your biggest dietary challenge? Getting everyone in my family to eat dinner at the same time.

What do yo like to do in your spare time? I love to get outside and be in the sunshine. I enjoy traveling to warm, tropical destinations. I spend a lot of time playing and exploring with my active toddler. I enjoy Pilates and Yoga.

What have you learned most from your work as a dietitian? Being a good listener is the most important skill in my job. I listen and ask a lot of questions to make sure I understand my client's perspective.  I consider the work I do to be therapeutic.

What advice do you have for people who are trying to improve their help? Avoid rigid or extreme dieting regimens. Just because a "diet" exists doesn't mean it will cure all that ails you. Seek professional guidance for your eating habits.
